Independence day

Independence Day- History proved again and again that preserving independence is much more difficult than gaining it. You should be ready for the trials of life and stand every trouble and difficulty. Azerbaijan had the opportunity to gain independence and create its own sovereign state twice in a century. Unfortunately the first opportunity was lost due to external interference, internal conflicts and the lack of international support.

The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic founded in 1918 lived only 23 months. The second historical opportunity arose after 70 years. The collapse of Soviet empire gave the opportunity to Azerbaijan people to restore national independence. On October 18, 1991 “Constitutional Act about state independence of Azerbaijan” was adopted at the session of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Together with this historical document our people gained their freedom. We believe that the independence of our Republic will be eternal and indestructible.
